Identity Under Pressure. See your own heart-rhythm pattern while you practice.

A biofeedback add-on for driven people who tighten, tilt or choke when the stakes go up.

A small ear sensor puts your heart-rhythm coherence on the screen, live. You recall the moment that gets you, use your cue, and watch what your body does. Jay Shaw, CHt, is a HeartMath Certified Practitioner and pairs the feedback with hypnotherapy, so you can see it, not just feel it.

Pressure follows a pattern. Now you can watch yours move.

You know what to do. Your body does something else.

You have the skill. You have the plan. Then the free throw is on the line, or the trade just stopped you out, and something faster than your plan takes over. The shot gets tight. The next entry is a revenge trade. You tell yourself to calm down and it does not work, because you are arguing with a pattern you cannot see.

Most mindset work asks you to take that on feel. Identity Under Pressure adds a screen. You see the pattern start, you see your cue change it, and you see how long it takes to settle. That makes it something you can practice, like any other rep.

What it is

Heart rate variability training, in plain language.

Your pulse is not a metronome. The time between beats changes from beat to beat, and the software draws that change as a line on the screen. When the line is smooth and even, that is a coherent pattern. When it is choppy or flat, it looks different.

That is all the sensor does: it shows you your own pattern, live, so you can try something and see whether it moved. It is a training and feedback tool. It does not diagnose, treat or measure any condition.

Think of the screen as a speedometer. It tells you what is happening. The identity work is what changes what is driving it.

Why add it

Practice the moment, not just the idea.

  • See your starting pattern before you do anything
  • Recall your pressure moment and watch what happens
  • Use your cue and see whether it works for you
  • Time how fast you come back, and train that number
  • Compare the end of the session to where you started

How a session runs

Baseline, pressure reps, proof.

Three reads built into your regular session. Same sensor, same screen, your own numbers every time.

  1. Baseline read

A few minutes of quiet sitting while the screen records your starting pattern. This is your own reference point. It is taken the same way each time so you can compare like with like.

  2. Pressure reps

A short recall tied to your goal: the miss, the stop-out, the question you froze on. You watch your pattern react, use your cue to shift, and we time the recovery. You choose the moment, and it stays on performance.

  3. Proof read

A short re-read at the end, set against your baseline. You see what changed in the room, in your own pattern, before you walk back out to the real thing.

In Dallas or on Zoom, you get the same three reads. Zoom clients get a sensor, included in the add-on, and work on their own screen. The hypnosis and identity work stays the core of your session. The sensor is how you see it working. On a lighter week, Jay can skip the pressure reps and give the time to the hypnotherapy.

Who it is for

Built for the moments that count.

Athletes: biofeedback for choking under pressure

Practice the moment before the pitch, the serve, the free throw or the first tee. Recall it, watch your pattern, use your cue, and time your reset after a mistake. Same skill, same body, a response you have rehearsed.

Hypnosis for athletes →
Traders: trading psychology biofeedback

Recall the loss that sets off the next bad entry. See what your pattern does, use your cue before you size up or move the stop, and train how fast you come back. This is mindset work only. No signals, no market calls.

Hypnosis for traders →

Founders and executives who feel the same shift in a board room or a hard negotiation use it the same way.

Why it fits Identity 2.0

Feedback on the outside. Identity work on the inside.

Identity 2.0 starts from one idea: you cannot outperform your identity. The pressure response you have now was learned, and what was learned can be updated. Hypnotherapy works on the belief, expectation and self-image underneath the pattern. The sensor lets you test it in real time.

So you are not guessing whether a session did anything. You walk in, you see your baseline, you run your reps, and you see the proof read. Then you take that into your next practice, game or trading day.

Questions

Identity Under Pressure FAQ

What is HRV biofeedback training?

It is a way to see your own heart-rhythm pattern on a screen while you practice. A small ear sensor reads your pulse, and the software draws the beat-to-beat pattern live. You use it as feedback: you try a skill, you see whether the pattern changed, and you adjust. It is a training tool, not a medical test.

Is this heart rate variability training for athletes only?

No. Identity Under Pressure is built for driven people whose performance changes when the stakes go up. That includes athletes, and it includes traders, founders and executives. The sessions are tied to the situation you care about: the free throw, the at-bat, the stopped-out trade, the board presentation.

Can biofeedback help with trading psychology?

It gives you something to practice against. Many traders know their rules and still tilt, revenge trade or freeze after a loss. In a session you recall a recent loss for a short stretch, watch your own pattern react, use a cue to shift, and time how long it takes to settle. Jay pairs that with the hypnotherapy work on the identity underneath the pattern. It does not predict markets or give signals, and it does not guarantee how you will trade.

How does it help with choking under pressure?

Choking is a pressure response that shows up at the moment you most want to be steady. With the sensor you can practice that moment on purpose: recall it, watch what your rhythm does, use your cue, and see how quickly you come back. The goal is a response you have rehearsed and can recognize, not a promise about any one game.

What does a session look like?

Three parts. First a baseline read: a few minutes of quiet sitting so you can see your own starting pattern. Then pressure reps: a short recall tied to your goal, a cue to shift, and a timed recovery. Then a proof read: a short re-read compared with your baseline. The hypnotherapy work is the core of your session; the biofeedback is how you see what is changing.

Is this medical treatment, and does it diagnose anything?

No. Jay Shaw is a certified hypnotherapist (CHt) and a HeartMath Certified Practitioner. He is not a psychologist or medical provider. The sensor shows a heart-rhythm pattern for training purposes. It does not diagnose, treat or cure any condition, and it is not a substitute for medical or psychological care. If you are under a doctor's or therapist's care, keep them in the loop.

Is the sensor safe? Who should check with a doctor first?

The sensor clips to your ear and reads your pulse. It does not send anything into your body. If you have a heart rhythm condition or a pacemaker, tell Jay before you start and check with your doctor, because the biofeedback part may not be a fit for you.

Do I have to come to Dallas?

No. Zoom clients get a sensor and do the same baseline read, pressure reps and proof read on their own screen. The sensor is included in the add-on. If you prefer to be in the room, you can sit in front of the screen with Jay at our Oak Lawn office in Dallas.

How does this fit with the Identity 2.0 program?

Identity Under Pressure is an add-on to the 8-week Identity 2.0 program. The program is weekly hypnotherapy, reinforcement audio and voice support between sessions. The biofeedback gives you and Jay a way to practice your pressure moments and see the result.

What does it cost?

The strategy call is free, and options and pricing are covered on that call. The sensor is included in the add-on. Payment plans are available. If you want to go deeper first, the optional Identity Diagnostic is $99 and is credited toward the program.
